But what did Sheriff Adam Christianson say just days after the shooting?
In a Bee story from September 30, a story that has been recently deleted from the Modesto Bee's website: Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson announced early this evening that an off-duty sheriff's detective "acted in self-defense" when she shot and killed a woman who brandished a replica handgun during an argument last week in west Modesto.
Twenty officers from the CHP, FBI, and the SO implemented a search warrant at the Home of Kari Abbey and her parents.Sheriff Christianson has a history of covering for his officers, especially the ones he has promoted quickly through the ranks or selected for high ranking positions.
Some say Abbey was moved forward without adequate experience since she made Detective after only two years.
It has taken six months to progress this far.
It is important to the integrity department that we get the full and complete investigation finished and be provided with an unvarnished report.
After all, we know the Bee doesn't like to embarrass the Sheriff let alone hold him accountable.
