Congratulations, Jesse, Jason, and Damien! They have been released today as free men.
For the last eighteen years, the three men known as the West Memphis Three have been imprisoned for the murders of Stevie Branch, Christopher Beyer, and Michael Moore, even though they did not commit the murders.
“This morning, in a courtroom in Jonesboro, Arkansas, all parties involved in the ongoing legal cases of the West Memphis Three have agreed to a plea agreement, which has resulted in the immediate release of all three men.” (http://wm3org.typepad.com/blog/2011/08/the-west-memphis-three-are-free.html )
The plea deal basically says they admit that the state has enough evidence to convict them, but they have not admitted any guilt. Actually, they have specifically said they are innocent, but are taking the deal to be free for the first time in almost two decades.
