D.A.'s Treatment of Kari Abbey Lowers Bail on Another Alleged Killer Judge Helps Prosecution

Superior Court Judge Richardo Cordova lowered the bail for Michael Hoyt who has been charged with second degree murder in the road rage killing of Ken Miller age 67. This was done after Hoyt's attorney, Frank Carson, sited the $300,000 bail set for Kari Abbey, a former Sheriff's Detective now charged with second degree murder and manslaughter.Carson asked the judge to lower Hoyt's bail that was set at $2 Million because, while he has similar charges as Abbey, no gun was involved.

Cordova reduced the bail to $1 Million but Carson was insistent the bail be set at $300,000 like Abbeys.Carson asked Judge Cordova for a May 23rd date to present witnesses to establish exactly what criteria was used to set Abbeys bail so low.Cordova declined, claiming he wouldn't be available until June 8th, but we question if the judge was aware that Abbey is scheduled to be arraigned on June 1st, giving the D.A. time to maneuver.

Should Abbey have been placed an a no bail warrant because of the alleged on-going criminal enterprise the search warrant turned up? Were special arrangements made because of her close relationship with Sheriff Adam Christianson, who declaration just seven days after Rita Elias was killed, absolved Abbey of responsibility?

Why did it take someone from the D.A.'s office to dig a little deeper to find the information the Sheriff 's internal investigators should have discovered? How many more alleged murderers will have their bail lowered because of the special favors granted to Kari Abbey by Deputy District Attorney and Chief investigator Dave Harris and the office of the District Attorney?
