According to the grapevine, Capt. Tim David, best known for crashing his County vehicle by rear ending a stopped car back on March 26, will soon be leaving the Sheriff's Department. The crash was a non-injury accident that occurred on Highway 1 in Monterey while on a private weekend jaunt.
Capt. David's off-duty crash, which occured approximatively 140 miles from Modesto, brought under scrutiny the Sheriff's vehicle policy regarding take home vehicles. The Sheriff's policy was in violation to county policy.
As a result, Sheriff Adam Christianson, after receiving a rebuke from the Board of Supervisors was forced to revise his policy.
According to what we've been told the separation/retirement will be coming around the end of January. The Sheriff's Department is starting to look like an airborne unit with all of the golden parachutes littering the landscape.
Can you say "spiking the retirements?"
