Why Wasn't Kari Abbey put on a Bail Hold?...Special Treatment

By Emerson Drake
5/5/11

Those with knowledge of the case are wondering why Abbey wasn't placed on a 1275.1 also known as a 1205 bail hold.

This is when the defendant is required to show that the money to be used to make bail didn't come as a result of a criminal enterprise.

The marjuana grow that was found along with a log book of sales combined with scales, packaging material, pre-weighed packages ready for sale, and a loaded weapon make the suggestion of a criminal enterprise being conducted.

The illegal way she conducted her rental business suggests that money from it could be considered ill gotten gains.

Abbey's bail is set too low. Right now there's a man in the Sheriff's custody for attempted murder and his bail is set at $2.5 Million so why is Abbey's bail only at $300,000 when she actually killed someone?

Did Chief Investigator/Assistant D.A. Dave Harris even read the complaint after all his initials are on it?

Or is everything by design.

This case reeks of special favoritism from beginning to end.

Sheriff Christianson Caught Covering up for Kari Abbey

By Emerson Drake
5/3/11

As we told you just two days after she was killed, this case wasn't going the way the Sheriff's Department was representing it.

Christianson had access to even more witnesses than we did but it was known early on that after an extend argument Abbey had gone back to her car retrieved her weapon and shot Rite Elias several times.

The unnamed Sheriff's officers who accompanied Abbey to earlier illegal evictions gives us concern that yet again we are seeing the cover up continue.

Even Chief Harden got into the act when he declared his patrol officer did nothing wrong when he allowed Abbey and her unnamed officer to leave without stopping the illegal harassment.

It looks like the Sheriff finally met an investigator in the District Attorney's office he couldn't intimidate or buffalo.

Who knew they had one?

Kari Abbey has been Suspended by the Sheriffs Office

By Emerson Drake
3/30/11

Adam Christianson is Red-Faced had proclaimed her innocence.

We're waiting for the official announcment, but word has it that Kari Abbey has been suspended from the S.O and has been banned from The Sheriff's County Property.

Sheriff Adam Christianson fought against the move but had no choice in the end.

Where does Birgit Fladager go from here? Is an arrest iminent?

We've been waiting since September for the results of the investigation and I guess now it's in.

Convicted of Drunk Driving, MPD Officer Todd Parsons Gets a Deal from the District Attorney

By Emerson Drake
1/10/11

Officer Todd Parsons, who didn't even bother to appear in court today (probably trying to dodge the cameras) pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge today in Modesto.

Parsons admitted through his attorney he was driving with a blood alcohol level two and a half times above the legal limit when he crashed his car by driving down an embankment. After seventeen years as a MPD officer you would think he would know better. He also pleaded no contest to a charge of driving with an open container.

Parsons will participate in a work release program instead of serving his seven day sentence.Despite the fact he has two broken legs in casts, and his jaw is still wired shut, he's been working at the MPD headquarters as we reported before.

His good buddy down at the MPD has allowed him to "work" cold case files from his wheelchair.Should a convicted drunk driver be allowed to drive city cars?

Private industry wouldn't allow it.

Did the DA lie in another case two weeks ago when he claimed Parson wasn't getting paid?I thought that is what sick time is for?

I keep forgetting, they save that up to spike their retirements.

Here is How and Why the Sheriff Obtained a Protective Order

By Emerson Drake
12/2/10

To put is simply, the Sheriff's Attorneys made a mistake.

Normally a protective order would have been put in place preventing documents received by the Prescott attorneys including the Jail Video being made available to the public and press prior to their being turned over to Prescott Attorneys.

Documents were sent without the protective having been obtained. The Sheriff's lawyers realized they made a mistake and have since taken steps to halt further releasing of these documents.

The video featured on the Voice of Modesto, Youtube by VoM, and the Modesto Bee wouldn't have been allowed if the Protective Order had been in place.

The Prescott lawyer has been contacted by the defendants lawyers and has stipulated to a protective order requested by the Sheriff's attorneys.

So Adam did indeed seek and receive an Order of Protection regardless of any statements by him despite his carefully worded denial to the Bee and Mark Vasche. And Mr. Vasche, if you need this explained in greater detail go tolisten to http://www.blogtalkradio.com/morning-mayor Friday morning at 9:00AM for further nlightenment.

We have a Problem Right here in Paradise City, oops, I mean Modesto

Bt Emerson Drake
11/14/10

We have a problem with law enforcement run a muck here in Stanislaus County and Modesto in particular.

On September 8th 2010 a Modesto Police Officer named Joseph Lamantia a two year veteran shot and killed Francisco Moran believing he had a knife, but since then we've learned it was a spatula stuck behind his back in his waist band.

On September 24th 2010 an off-duty Sheriff's Detective Kari Abbey was at the home of Rita Elias on "personal business" presumably for her father, Elias' land lord although Abbey's father refuses to comment on the reason they were there that night.

Kari Abbey did get into an extended argument with Elais and sun sequentially shot her multiple times and killed her. After both of these incidents the public has been met with a news blackout.

We know that after the Moran shooting the story changed in the next few days from a knife, to a big knife, to a spatula, then to a spatula with a shiny handle. The family supposedly still claims that it was a wooden spoon all along.

Since these early discrepancies the Sheriff's office has maintained silence. After Kari Abbey's shooting of Rita Elias (with the exception of Christianson's early statement absolving Abbey referring to it as "self defense") there has been a news blackout which has continued for almost two months.

Now we've been witness to an e-mail by a retired MPD Officer which discusses police brutality in the past. But most recently a letter surfaced which the Voice of Modesto brought to you in it's entirety which stated the afore mentioned brutality continues to the present day.We need to bring a halt to the subversion of civil rights which the MPD is engaged in.

We need to have a way fair officers to express their concerns to a civilian review board independent of the MPD which would have the power to investigate any and all complaints. In the mean time everyone needs to call Greg Nyhoff and the entire Modesto City Council to request, no DEMAND that the F.B.I. be called in to investigate the MPD.
Call Gregg Nyhoff at 577-5224 or email him at gnyhoff@modestogov.com and insist he call the FBI to Investigate the MPD
