Those with knowledge of the case are wondering why Abbey wasn't placed on a 1275.1 also known as a 1205 bail hold.
This is when the defendant is required to show that the money to be used to make bail didn't come as a result of a criminal enterprise.
The marjuana grow that was found along with a log book of sales combined with scales, packaging material, pre-weighed packages ready for sale, and a loaded weapon make the suggestion of a criminal enterprise being conducted.
The illegal way she conducted her rental business suggests that money from it could be considered ill gotten gains.
Abbey's bail is set too low. Right now there's a man in the Sheriff's custody for attempted murder and his bail is set at $2.5 Million so why is Abbey's bail only at $300,000 when she actually killed someone?
Did Chief Investigator/Assistant D.A. Dave Harris even read the complaint after all his initials are on it?
Or is everything by design.
This case reeks of special favoritism from beginning to end.
An opportunity to broaden our horizons and learn what's happening in Modesto the local media doesn't cover.

Is the Fix In? Why is Kari Abbey being Under-Charged?
By Emerson Drake
5/31/11
Yes, under-charged.
It appears that the District Attorney has made a deal similar to the one they made for child molester, former deputy Chip Huskey, since the D.A. has left off the most serious of the charges that should have been leveled against Kari Abbey.
There were two illegal weapons that would bring charges of 12 years to life if she were found guilty.
On weapon was a sawed off shotgun and the other was a fully automated assault rifle.
Another charge that should have been made was a gun enhancement charge in both the second degree murder charge and the manslaughter charge.
These charges bring a possible 25 years to life sentence. What about the steroid possesion? Why weren't charges brought forward for that?Dom't forget the smallest of the charges left off and that is the marijuana possesion for sale charge.
Now lets's consider the criminal enterprise charges since it's apparent that the intimidation of rental tenants and illegal evictions has been ongoing.
Now lets talk about conducting business while on the job including the use of her car which is county property involving more unnamed deputies.
Why were these charges left off?
A good answer might be to allow for such a small bail. After talking with bail bondsmen, they informed us it was the lowest bail in recent memory involving just the charges brought against Kari Abbey.
If the charges mentioned above had been taken into consideration, the bail would have gone up to over a million dollars.
So considering all of this we ask you the question...

Kari Abbey has been Suspended by the Sheriffs Office
By Emerson Drake
3/30/11
Adam Christianson is Red-Faced had proclaimed her innocence.
We're waiting for the official announcment, but word has it that Kari Abbey has been suspended from the S.O and has been banned from The Sheriff's County Property.
Sheriff Adam Christianson fought against the move but had no choice in the end.
Where does Birgit Fladager go from here? Is an arrest iminent?
We've been waiting since September for the results of the investigation and I guess now it's in.

Here is How and Why the Sheriff Obtained a Protective Order
By Emerson Drake
12/2/10
To put is simply, the Sheriff's Attorneys made a mistake.
Normally a protective order would have been put in place preventing documents received by the Prescott attorneys including the Jail Video being made available to the public and press prior to their being turned over to Prescott Attorneys.
Documents were sent without the protective having been obtained. The Sheriff's lawyers realized they made a mistake and have since taken steps to halt further releasing of these documents.
The video featured on the Voice of Modesto, Youtube by VoM, and the Modesto Bee wouldn't have been allowed if the Protective Order had been in place.
The Prescott lawyer has been contacted by the defendants lawyers and has stipulated to a protective order requested by the Sheriff's attorneys.
So Adam did indeed seek and receive an Order of Protection regardless of any statements by him despite his carefully worded denial to the Bee and Mark Vasche. And Mr. Vasche, if you need this explained in greater detail go tolisten to http://www.blogtalkradio.com/morning-mayor Friday morning at 9:00AM for further nlightenment.

Christianson and County Panic and Get a Protective Order on Prescott Documents
By Emerson Drake
11/21/10
A protective order was sought and received by the Sheriff Office's attorneys late Wednesday afternoon. Christianson was unavailable for comment but apparently the posting of the video by Voice of Modesto, along with the discussion of related documents connected to the case on the Morning Mayor Show, has the Sheriff and his attorneys extremely concerned.
The Prescott attorney Stephen Yourke was on the Morning Mayor Show Friday, November 19th and can be heard in the archives at www.blogtalkradio.com/Morning-MayorAfter watching the video, most people become aware of Craig Prescott's comatose condition and the rough uncaring manner in which the deputies treated him.Apparent in the video are several scenes which are repeated over and over by what is supposed to be a factual unaltered footage.
Also of concern are the twelve pages of the CFMG Medical referral form along with the seventeen page District Attorney's report. The Sheriff's Department is desperately trying to conducting damage control.
Sheriff Adam Christianson's claim of "everything was by the book" is drawing more skepticism with every viewing of the video.
Can they put the genie back in the bottle? We here at the Voice of Modesto doubt it.

Was Rita Elias Trying to Protect Herself? Voices Around Town
By Emerson Drake
10/5/10
Imagine if someone showed up at your home and engaged you in an extended argument, a scuffle ensued and they went to their car and got a gun.
What would you do?
After all, isn't your home supposed to be your castle? Would you try to get them to leave? I know I would.
But if this person who came to your door, was a member of L/E and even though they are off duty and on "personal business, if they feel threatened should they be able to SHOOT and KILL you?
That seems to be the approach of Adam Christianson and others in law enforcement.
Heck imagine it was your neighbor that it happened to. Someone "a civilian" comes to their door argues with them pulls a gun and kills them, does the shooter get to go home with their loved ones after taking someone else's life?
You certainly hope the answer is no.
But if they're a member of the L/E, it's "special rules for special people."
