If you're in Modesto you're sitting on a piece of earth that's spinning west to east at about 860 miles an hour.
The earth is orbiting around the sun at 66,661 miles per hour.
The Sun and its planets are moving toward the star Vega at around 31,000 miles an hour.
The Sun and Vega move around the Galaxy at a speed of 700,000 miles an hour, and the Galaxy itself rotates at 559,350 miles an hour.
Even more interesting is our Galaxy moves in relation to all other galaxy's at a speed better than 1,000,000 miles an hour.
So to sum it up you're going wildly in six different direction at approximately two and a half million miles an hour.
So the next time someone say to you "don't just sit there do something" you can honestly say...
"I am.'
