In recent weeks it's come to light that the City Council is blocking selected e-mail addresses of their constituents.
When several people had sent a copy of the "Letter for a MPD Employee it was discovered that it wasn't received or read by councilmen/women even after the Sacramento TV stations had covered it and despite the fact that city manager Greg Nyhoff had made the decision to employ a lawyer to investigate the allegations involved.
The idea that the Modesto City Council hadn't even read the letter causing the public so much concern is frightening. Are they burying their heads in the sand on purpose?
Even more despicable is the thought they are turning a blind eye to their constituents. It goes to show why campaign contributions from special interest groups are made.
To guarantee their concerns will be heard.
At a recent MID Board meeting it was disclosed by a member of the public that Directors don't have access to their e-mail accounts. The e-mails actually go to the secretary of the board who hands the off to Allen Short and he in turn dispenses them as he sees fit.
It was learned that concerns e-mailed by the Stanislaus Tax Association had not been distributed by Mr. Short prior to a recent rate hike vote.
Our elected officials are choosing to wall themselves off from the concerns of average citizens.Allen Short refused to disseminate information that exposed actions made during his last ten years in office.
If our elected officials don't want to hear from the people they represent then they need to be removed from office.
