Stanislaus County Demands West Park Plan: Kamilos Called on Carpet

Frustrated by West Park's pace, Stanislaus County officials on Thursday demanded a revised specific plan for the 4,800-acre project.

Gerry Kamilos, who hopes to transform a former Navy air base into a jobs-rich business hub with a rail link to the Port of Oakland, said Friday he is eager to comply.

The partnership between the county and West Park was started by a 2007 majority vote of county supervisors, but that five-man panel will have two new members by the time the project's most ardent supporter,

Jeff Grover, leaves office at year's end. His successor, Terry Withrow, and three other supervisors have said they are reserving judgment until Kamilos produces something to judge.
