Problems in MID's Water World Part II

By Emerson Drake
9/23/10

As promised, a review of MID's Deficiency List for the Water treatment Plant Phase Two Expansion Project straight from a Public Information request by VoM.

The MID's list contains 125 separately listed items, some as small as pin holes in the membrane of basin#4 and hand rail gates that cannot be fully operated because they hit pump bases, along with leaks in roofs, and the concrete filler slabs are not bonded to the structural slab which has allowed water to enter between the two slabs

.Of course this is just an example of the problems facing MID in regards to the Expansion Project. Many of these items were supposed to be repaired as far back as January of 2010.Unfortunately MID didn't supply an updated list of items that might have already been repaired.

But it should be presumed that none of these has been fixed siince the report date on the paperwork given is 5/25/10.If these dates are accurate and they are believed to be, then why has MID waited this long before taking action?

Some of these problems according to MID require design change s to be implemented. Many questions remain unanswered but we will be following up on these and other issues next week at the MID's Board meeting
